On a beautiful sunny Sunday morning in eastern Wisconsin, we walked over to a nearby park for some photos. It was Cecilia's third birthday and she'd been up late the night before, but she rocked it! (For a while, anyway...everybody has their limits.) Rebecca (6) was a photographic champion. It's always lovely to have a public garden and playground within walking distance of your home, and we took advantage of it twice during our visit.
When last we saw the Smeltzes, it was 2011 and there were only three of them. Both of our broods have increased since then.
As is often the case when photographing families with young children, trying to capture the perfect shot can be a challenge. To make matters even more interesting, we threw their dog Spike into the mix. We're pretty pleased with the beautiful backdrop and lighting (thanks, Colorado!) in these pictures, not to mention those adorable boys, too (Nathaniel, age 3, and Timothy, 20 months).

Recently we took a two-week road trip with a dual purpose--one, to show our kids how beautiful and diverse our country is; two, to capture photographic images of both people and scenery. Here are some fun photos from a hilariously chaotic shoot with Daniel and Sara McCue, and their three children--Slane (5), Hanna (3), and Graeme (1).
The first sample.
